How Delegation Helped An Architectural Firm Become Profitable In 2 Years

In this post, Bryce Conner, my client (and friend!), who is the Owner and Licensed Architect of B Ingenious Designs, shares the importance of delegation. He breaks down how small business owners can find themselves being all things in their business, when ultimately it’s best to move those tasks with expectations, to people who can get the job done.
I operate a small architectural design firm in Houston, Texas and this is my second year in business. As a small business owner, there are many challenges faced while on this journey of building a successful and profitable business.
One challenge that I would like to highlight would be letting go and delegating tasks to others who are willing to help. We all know that when starting your own business you find yourself being the secretary, accountant, social media manager, HR manager, and many other roles that are needed to successfully operate a business.
I had to realize that I cannot do it all!
I had to learn that I had to invest in my business, and hire individuals who are experts in those areas. It has definitely been a challenge with trusting individuals to execute the tasks as if I would; however, I have learned to set expectations upon hiring and that will set the tone for what is required.
By delegating and letting go of certain tasks within my business, I have found myself having the opportunity to build and grow my business.
My advice from one entrepreneur to another would be to not be afraid to delegate some of those day-to-day tasks; therefore, you can free up some of your time to actually grow your business without having to focus on it and spend time on minor tasks of the business.
